Clothing Care Guide

Proper care of your clothing ensures lasting quality, preserves colors, and extends the life of each piece.

1. Everyday Clothing Care

Caring for your everyday garments with a few simple habits makes a big difference over time.

Daily Care

  • Air out garments after wearing before putting them away to prevent odors and moisture buildup.
  • Hang structured pieces (jackets, blazers) on appropriate hangers to maintain their shape.
  • Fold knitwear and delicate fabrics flat rather than hanging to avoid stretching.

Storage

  • Store clothing in a cool, dry, well-ventilated space away from direct sunlight to prevent fading and fiber deterioration.
  • Use cedar blocks or lavender sachets as a natural alternative to mothballs to protect your wardrobe.

2. Washing and Stain Care

Washing your clothes correctly is essential to preserving their appearance and texture.

Regular Washing

  • Always check the care label before washing — it contains all the information you need about temperature, cycle type, and drying method.
  • Turn garments inside out before washing to protect colors and surface finishes.
  • Wash dark and light colors separately to prevent color transfer.
  • Use a gentle detergent suitable for the fabric type (delicate, wool, cotton, etc.).

Stain Treatment

  • Treat stains immediately: gently blot with a clean cloth without rubbing to avoid spreading.
  • Use a stain remover appropriate for the fabric type and always test on a hidden area first.
  • For stubborn or set-in stains, consult a professional dry cleaner.

3. Drying and Ironing

How you dry and iron your clothes is just as important as how you wash them.

Drying

  • Avoid tumble drying unless the care label explicitly allows it, as heat can shrink or damage fibers.
  • Dry garments flat or on a hanger away from direct heat sources and sunlight.
  • Reshape knitwear while damp and allow to dry flat to maintain its original form.

Ironing

  • Always iron at the temperature recommended on the care label.
  • Iron delicate fabrics (silk, lace, synthetic) inside out or with a pressing cloth to protect the surface.
  • Steam is a gentle and effective alternative to ironing for removing wrinkles from most fabrics.
